Wanting nothing more than to go out with the beautiful and intelligent Diane Court, recent graduate and eternal optimist Lloyd Dobler attempts to win her heart despite the objections of her over-protective father. Diane who has always shared a close, loving relationship with her father, begins to question her dad's motives and wealth.
